Electric Vehicle Charging
As part of the University of Arizona's commitment to sustainability, electric vehicle charging stations are conveniently available on campus. Electric vehicles can help reduce harmful emissions that contribute to climate change and smog/pollution, thus improving public health and safety, and reducing environmental damage.
Parking and Transportation Services (PTS) is proud to provide 23 electric vehicle charging stations available at four garages and three surface lots on the north side of campus. Making alternative transportation modes more accessible to the campus community is just one of the many ways we are following through on this commitment. For a map of the electric vehicle charging stations on campus, please visit our interactive parking map. Please note, vehicles must be actively charging to avoid a citation.
We've partnered with ChargePoint to help keep Wildcat country sustainable. The stations are easy to use. Drivers may download the free ChargePoint app on the App Store or Google Play to find the charging stations, track their charging, receive notifications and more. The app can also help drivers find any of the more than 60,000 other ChargePoint charging spaces throughout North America. We recommend using ChargePoint on Google Chrome for desktop use. To learn more about the features of the app, watch the videos below.
Charging at the stations costs $0.03 per minute. The rate structure has been set to keep charaging fee down and help cover the cost to provide electricity, while generating a small amount of revenue to go towards the purchase of additional devices. There will be a four hour maximum to charge at this rate. If a vehicle continues to be plugged in after the 4 hours, the rate will triple to $0.09 per minute. The intention is to allow more patrons to charge their vehicle in a day.
