The structure has a brick and concrete facade with external staircases and palm trees lining the surrounding sidewalks. The stadium, with its large seating area and signage, is visible to the right, while a sports field with artificial turf is in the foreground. In the background, additional university buildings, a large arched structure, and a mountain range are visible under a clear blue sky.

New gate systems for South Stadium, Highland and Health Sciences parking garages

This summer and into the fall, Parking and Transportation Services are installing new gate systems, payment equipment and cameras at entrances and exits of the South Stadium, Highland and Health Sciences parking garages. These upgrades will help us better manage the availability of parking spaces reserved for permit holders, giving them priority access and limiting visitor entry when needed. Work begins on Thursday, July 31. Permit holders will be notified by email about the installation dates for their garage.

Permit holders will still have access to these garages during these upgrades. There may be possible delays during the installation period.

What’s changing?

The new gates and license plate recognition cameras will simplify entry, exit and payment processes for all users and create a consistent experience in all garages across campus.

  • Cameras will read license plates and grant access to valid permit holders.

    • Scanning a CatCard will be available as a backup option for permit holders.

  • Visitors will be charged when exiting, eliminating the need for the standalone payment station or Passport app to pay for parking ahead of time.

  • The Health Sciences garage spaces will align with other campus garages, allowing visitors and permit holders to park on all levels. (Before this update, visitors have only been allowed to park on the roof.)

PTS will do our best to minimize any disruption. If you need assistance during the installation period, please contact PTS Dispatch at 520-621-1108.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we make these improvements. If you have any questions, email transportation@arizona.edu.
