Welcome to Fleet Services
Parking and Transportation Services has consolidated the Motor Pool, Garage Services and Vehicle Procurement teams into a unified Fleet Services management model to modernize the way we manage the life cycle of the university’s fleet of vehicles in a more strategic, cost effective and sustainable way.
All departments across the University of Arizona are required to initiate the procurement of university owned vehicles (including golf carts) through Fleet Services. Fleet Services will oversee this process in order to centralize the purchasing, ownership, and management of vehicles. Fleet Services will also assist with licensing, titling, and branding, and will be responsible for managing fleet vehicle life cycles and maintenance schedules.
Definition of Fleet Vehicles: All unit-owned and licensed university vehicles and low-speed vehicles operated on university property will be considered part of the fleet. This includes golf carts, utility vehicles, cars, trucks, vans and motorcycles.
These changes are reflected in the new University Fleet Vehicle Procurement, Maintenance & Life Cycle Management Policy.
What Departments Need to Know:
- Currently owned vehicles will remain owned by departments. Old vehicles will be surplused with the assistance of Fleet Services.
-
Departments will be required to complete a purchase request form:
- University Vehicle Purchase Request Form for vehicles
- University Golf Cart Purchase Request Form for golf carts
- Fleet Services will purchase on the department’s behalf, and charge internally.
- Fleet Services will license, title, add branding, and create a maintenance schedule for the vehicle/golf cart.
- Fleet Services will turn the vehicle over to the department for use.
- Over the life cycle of the vehicle, Fleet Services will notify departments for maintenance and eventual disposal of the vehicle.
Benefits of a Comprehensive Fleet Management Strategy:
- Achieve economies of scale for purchasing, which will lower costs.
- Improved vehicle life cycle management through consistent maintenance and tracking.
- A more efficient, better performing and more sustainable fleet.
