Electric Scooter Parking
Prohibition of Unauthorized Electric Scooters
Electric scooters (E-Scooters), whether personally owned or operated by a shared-use company, are prohibited on the University of Arizona campus unless expressly approved by the University. Unauthorized scooters are subject to fines and impoundment, with responsibility falling on the owner or operator. Refer to the Rules and Regulations Article VIII. 7 Other Non-Pedestrian Devices for detailed policies on Electric Scooters.
Reasons for the Policy
This policy is in place to address concerns including:
- Safety risks to riders and pedestrians
- Accessibility barriers, particularly for individuals with disabilities
- Obstruction of pathways, entrances, and doorways
- Indoor safety concerns, as e-scooters are not permitted inside campus buildings
Accessibility Exceptions
Individuals with mobility disabilities may use electric scooters on campus if the device is:
- Approved and registered with both the Disability Resource Center (DRC) and Parking & Transportation Services
- Clearly marked with a disability permit provided by PTS
These devices are exempt from the general prohibition.
Designated Scooter Parking Areas
Approved scooters must be parked only in designated electric scooter parking areas located at the perimeter of campus.
Note: Locking electric scooters to bike racks is strictly prohibited.
