Rental Fleet Vehicles
The university’s rental fleet provides a fleet of rental vehicles available for use by faculty, staff and students, for university sanctioned business and sponsored trips. To operate or rent a University vehicle, you must be an Authorized Driver.
To become an Authorized Driver, you must:
Have a valid driver’s license
Complete the Driver Certification training in EDGE Learning
Enter your driver’s license information correctly during the Driver Certification course (this is required for processing)
If you will be operating specific vehicle types, additional training is required:
- Golf carts / utility vehicles: Complete Utility / Golf Cart Training
- 15-passenger vans or vehicles designed to carry 8 or more passengers: Complete High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) Training
If you have an out-of-state driver’s license, you must also:
- Submit a current 39-month Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) to the Fleet Safety Manager
- Provide an updated MVR every 6 months
Important
Your driver’s license information entered during Driver Certification is transferred to the University system (UAccess) for processing. If your information is entered incorrectly (wrong format or invalid entries), it will not transfer, and your authorization will be delayed until corrected. You are only an Authorized Driver when your status in UAccess is “Acceptable.” Completing training alone does not authorize you to drive.
Timing
Complete all requirements at least 30 days in advance, as processing may take several weeks.
Our rental vehicles can be driven into Mexico and the International Insurance packet will be provided at no additional cost.
We can provide a fleet fuel card to purchase fuel while on extended trips or trips beyond 150 miles from Tucson.

Fleet Services offers short-term rental golf carts starting at $30 per day and must be scheduled in advance. For more information on golf cart rentals, please contact PTS-MotorPool@arizona.edu.

Sixth Street Garage: Parking & Transportation is excited to announce the launch of its first on-campus rental pod, now available at the Sixth Street Garage. The pod features mid-size sedans and golf carts available through a convenient self-service checkout system located inside the garage. This new service provides faculty, staff, and students with an easier, more flexible way to rent vehicles or golf carts for short-term use.
How It Works
Reserve your vehicle: Visit the reservation portal and select Sixth Street Garage for pickup location. Choose the vehicle or golf cart you wish to rent.
Receive Confirmation: You will receive a confirmation email containing a unique access code for the KeyValet system.
Pick Up Your Vehicle: On the day of your reservation, visit the Sixth Street Garage, enter your confirmation code at the KeyValet station, and get your key.
Return Made Easy: When your rental period ends, return the vehicle by following the same KeyValet check-in process.
Additional Vehicle Rentals: All other vehicle types not available at the Sixth Street Garage will continue to be available for pick-up and drop-off through the Rental Fleet Office, located at 1597 E. 16th St., Tucson, AZ 85719.
Mileage Reimbursement
Parking & Transportation Services has an online calculator designed to assist customers in determining the most cost-effective transportation option. This tool allows users to compare the costs of using a rental fleet vehicle versus seeking mileage reimbursement for personal vehicle use. This calculator takes into account the selected rental fleet vehicle type and mileage to generate accurate cost comparisons to the estimated mileage reimbursement for the trip, helping users make informed decisions about their transportation choices.
For general information about mileage reimbursement, please refer to University of Arizona Financial Policies.
Other Rental Fleet Services
Rental Fleet Services also provides the following to the university community:
- Assistance with titling and registration questions.
- Voyager fleet card support for individual departments possessing Voyager accounts, or those wishing to establish a Voyager fleet account.
Through cooperation with the Financial Services Office Property Management team, rental fleet services conducts an annual Fleet Data Survey to provide the university, the State of Arizona and the Federal government with data on the university’s fleet composition, usage, fuel consumption and costs.
