2021 - 2022 Permits Become Valid Monday, August 16, 2021

As the new permit season is set to begin on August 16, we have transitioned almost the entire main campus over to virtual permits increasing parking efficiency, providing convenience for our customers, and greatly reducing the amount of paper and plastic waste. Below you will find information about where you will still need to display a physical permit and how our permit-by-plate lots and gateless garages are monitored.

PERMIT-BY-LICENSE PLATE

Parking ampersanamp; Transportation Services uses License Plate Recognition (LPR) technology to help monitor parking on campus. This technology eliminates the need to display a sticker decal or hangtag and associates a parking permit to a license plate. Parking enforcement vehicles, equipped with cameras, scan license plates of parked vehicles to verify permit status. Vehicles are required to park head-in allowing the license plate to be read from the drive lane.ampersannbsp; Backing into or pulling through parking spaces is not allowed. Designated back-in parking is excluded, be sure to observe posted signage. IMPORTANT: Please maintain current license plate information in your parking account portal.

LOT/STREET/BLOCK SPECIFIC PERMITS

Your license plate is your permit. You will not receive a physical permit sticker unless your area is listed in the locations below.

GATED ampersanamp; GATELESS GARAGE PERMITS

The University has two types of garage environments, gated and gateless. Both use Permit-by-License Plate, but the process is different for how you enter/exit the garage.

Gated Garages: Cherry Avenue, Main Gate, Park Avenue, Second Street, Sixth Street, Tyndall Street

These garages still require a Radio Frequency Identification Device (RFID) to be attached to the windshield to lift the gates for entry and exit. The permit is not associated with the RFID but with the vehicle's license plate. LPR cameras will scan your license plate to verify your permit is valid at that garage location.

If you are:

Gateless Garages: Health Sciences, Highland Avenue, Honors Village, South Stadium

No gates, no RFID required. Your license plate is your permit. LPR cameras will scan your license plate to verify your permit is valid at that garage location. When you leave, no more waiting in line for the gate arms to go up.
