New Associate Director Named.

Mark D. Napier has been appointed Associate Director for Operations at Parking & Transportation Services effective October 5th, 2009.

Mark previously served as assistant director for the Glendale Police Department as well as the Director of the Support Services Bureau. He had oversight over training, budgeting, personnel, grants, detention and accreditation. Prior to that, Mark led a distinguished career at the Tucson Police Department, working his way up the ranks from Police Officer to Captain.

Mark has extensive teaching experience as a Lead Facilitator and Teaching Assistant for the Boston University On-line Masters in Criminal Justice Program. Mark earned a bachelor's degree of science in social psychology from Park College in 1999 and a master's degree from Boston University in 2004.

Mark's interests and experiences include the development, design construction and management of public facilities, including the development of two multi-million dollar projects for the City of Tucson. Mark has been recognized by several neighborhood associations for his exemplary work with the community and has also received many commendations during his career. Mark has published articles on The Need for Higher Education, as well as training manuals for the agencies he managed.

Mark is a native of Iowa, and currently lives in Tucson, AZ, with his wife Marlene. Mark has four children.
