About Cat Wheels Bikes

The Cat Wheels Bike Program is a PTS initiative designed to provide a free bicycle loan system for The University of Arizona. The program was developed to help students move around campus in a quick, safe, and sustainable fashion. Modeled after similar initiatives at Colorado State and Duke University, Cat Wheels Bike draws upon the best features of bicycle sharing systems from across the country to bring you an effective and efficient means of public transportation.

Officially housed in PTS, the program will have several bike stations located at Sixth Street Garage, Tyndall Avenue Garage and more will be added in the future.

The perfect complement to the Cat Tran shuttle bus system, Cat Wheels Bike will allow its users to move from point to point on campus atop comfort style designed, single speed cruiser bikes with dual pivot hand brakes with rear-mounted baskets for books and groceries. There is no program registration fee. The bikes are subsidized by the PTS department which maintains the 55 bikes and program logistics. You MUST renew your registration each time to maintain privileges.

To use the system, you must first complete the online registration form and take all necessary paper work to any Garage cashier OR you can complete the entire registration process at the garage cashier window. Once you’ve been successfully processed, the desk worker will ask to see your Cat Card and hand you a key to a bike that is at that particular station. That bicycle is yours for up to 24 hours. When you are finished using your Cat Wheels Bike, you can return it to the same location.
